Tuesday Top Three!

Yet another installment of Tuesday Top Three, in which I list the latest top three songs I’m loving to give your Tuesday a kick start. Currently I am loving…

Ceelo Green – F**k You (NSFW)

This song is just addictive, how can you not dance around, it’s the kind of song I couldn’t walk around listening to on my ipod, because I’d be prone to singing it at random intervals, and I can see myself getting in trouble.

Birds of Tokyo – Plans

Who doesn’t love this band at the moment?! Birds of Tokyo’s new self titled album is insane. These boys just keep getting better. This is the current album on constant rotation in my car, and is very well a contender for my top album of 2010. Everytime I listen to this album I get something different out of it. It’s like a fine bottle of wine, it gets better with age. Listen to this song, then go and get the album. These Perth boys deserve all the love and acolades they’ve been getting and more.

Gyroscope – Baby I’m Getting Better

Lets throw some more Western Australia love in here. You can’t deny it Western Australia has been breeding some killer bands up there, it must be something in the water. But Gyroscope are an old favourite, I’ve been listening to Gyroscope since 2002-2003. And Baby they’re getting better. This songs also sounds superb front and center in a pit. Also if you get a chance pick up their latest album Cohesion and give it a spin. But if you do definetly pick up the back catalogue as well, especially ‘Are you Involved?’

So tell me what is your favourite Australian bands? And what albums/bands are currently on your rotation?

FAILED!

Last week my attempts at my goals didn’t quite pan out as I had hoped, I managed to break most of them at least once. I figure I could sit here and write about why, how life got in the way, and blah, blah, blah…But the end result is the same. No excuses. I’m the queen of excuses. So for this I’m offering none, just the truth I failed. Will I let this stop me from trying again? No. It’s good to have some goals or something to work towards, and with that in mind, here are the things I intend to accomplish this week…

  1. Drink 2L of water per day. This is slowly having a positive effect on my skin, so I need to keep at it.
  2. No fast food/take-away. Basically anything that isn’t prepared/cooked at home. I’m making an exception for the pre-packaged bars I snack on at work.
  3. Read two books out of the mountain I’m accumulating. Also DO NOT buy any more books. I bought 5 more books last week, I am insane.
  4. Attempt to sort out my room. Re-organise everything, pack un-needed/unused items in boxes, ready for moving.
  5. Go to gym and work out. This includes buying new gym shoes, and possibly clothes.

& GET A FREAKING HAIRCUT!
I put off getting a haircut as long as possible. I hate them, I’m always worried they are going to stuff it up. Either that or I’ll end up regretting it later. I am quite hair boring. But I just can’t avoid the chop any more.

What are your goals and intentions for the new week?

Happy Monday, balancing out my Karma!

Happy Monday people!
I’m so excited that it’s Monday, and the beginning of a new week. Last week was quite shitty, especially work wise, I worked 6 days out of 7, but I got off better than a co-worker who got lucky enough to work 7 out of 7 days. Therefore I’m excited for a new week, because my luck has got to be on the up, it can’t get worse. Therefore I’ve set myself some goals for the week, in an attempt to make my week as positive as possible. And make it impossible for Karma to kick my ass again.

My goals for the week are as follows;

  1. Drink 2L of water per day.
  2. No fast-food/takeaway.
  3. Read/finish at least two of the moutain of books, I’m accumulating.
  4. Join the gym around the corner, so I don’t have time/distance as an excuse for not going.
  5. Sort/clean out my room, pack away the un-needed/un-used junk that litters my room.

Lets see if me attempting to be good, helps my karma out at all. Either way at least I’ll be a little bit healthier and a little bit more organised, because you can never been organised enough, or healthy enough. So lets toast to a new week and some good karma?!

What is on your to-do list this week, what are you hoping to improve on this week?

Tuesday Top Three!

Last week my internet decided to go and die on me, therefore no blogs. But I’m back with a Tuesday Top Three, in which I list the latest top three songs I’m loving to give your Tuesday a kick start. Currently I am loving…

Eminem (ft. Rihanna) – Love The Way You Lie

I wasn’t originally a fan of this song, on the album it was one of my least favourites at the beginning, I had to grow to it, and now I love it. It takes on it’s own meaning for me. Like any good song should, it adopts a time, a place, a memory of your life and it embeds itself into it. Plus the video for this song, is just perfection.

Jimmy Eat World – Bleed American

It’s J.E.W if you need more explanation you are not from my generation. But this is one of my favourites, if it’s been a bad day, there is nothing better than turning this up loud, and blasting it all the way home. And who can resist a lyric like ‘I’m not crazy, ’cause I take the right pills every day!’

Megan Washington – Sunday Best

I just couldn’t escape this song, whenever I happened to flick through the radio it would be on, when I went into stores it would be on. But yet again I hated it to begin with, and it grew on me like a mold. Then someone told me something Megan Washington in rumoured to have said while hanging out in the gents loo’s, and handed me the album. And now I’m in love.  ‘I will take the time to make it, just so you’ve the chance to break it.’ Her entire album I  Believe You Liar is well worth a spin or two.

And last but not least, this deserves more than a Tuesday Top Three, it’s the Clip for Grinderman’s – Heathen Child. It is completely NSFW and will be mildly disturbing if you are not used to the disturbed genius that is Nick Cave and John Hillcoat, it may even offend people. Unfortunately as previously stated Nick Cave is my god, I must worship whatever he does. And seriously this clip is just mindblowing. It’s at least original, and who else in entertainment can say that at the moment.

GRINDERMAN – HEATHEN CHILD (NSFW)

If you do watch it, let me know your reaction? Are you disgusted? Mindblown? Offended? Shocked? In awe? Confused?

Also let me know what you’ve been listening to this week?!

Everybody needs good neighbours…

I love my neighbours.  Because I would seriously hate to be my neighbour. There is no secret in the fact that I’m not a morning person, I get up at a decent hour, but my good nature doesn’t kick in for awhile.  Hence my routine involves getting up and blasting whatever music it is that’s rubbing me up the right way that morning. Yes I’m one of those people. This mornings choice the new Grinderman…

Heathen Child by MuteRecords

Now you can see why I love my neighbours, because there has never been a complaint, except for once when I was a teen, and they could quite easily complain most mornings. One of my neighbours has a cop for a daughter. In my teenage years I was prone to throwing parties called ‘Weekenders’ (but that’s another story for another post). And there was only ever one complaint, and it was completely justified, some douchebag thought it would be fun to climb on cars and start smashing bottles. Needless to say that person was never invited back, and it was also the last ‘Weekender’ I threw before I moved to WA.
Now tell me dear internet where will I find neighbours like this again? Never I tell you. Which makes me sad to be moving out. I have six weeks to find elsewhere to live. A change is meant to be as good as a holiday, right?! And it’s just got so convienient and easy to stay here.

So I ask your interwebs, what are your best house hunting tips? What should I be looking for?

Tuesday Top Three!

I’ve decided to start something called the Tuesday Top Three, in which I list the latest top three songs I’m loving to give your Tuesday a kick start. Currently I am loving…

The Pretty Reckless – Miss Nothing
(also see Make Me Wanna Die)

I’m a 90′s baby, I grew up with Courtney, how could I not love them. It’s like v2.0. Let’s just cross our fingers Little J doesn’t end up like Courtney. Plus this is how I actually remember 16/17. More than how Miley or Dakota represent the teenage years.

Lissie MaurusThe Pursuit of Happiness (Kid Cudi Cover)

To be honest, I just found Lissie recently, and man I think I’m in love, girl is a powerhouse, and if you’re not into her, get into her.

Travie McCoy – We’ll Be Alright

In fact this album LAZARUS in it’s entirety. This is the current album in my car, and has been for a couple of weeks now. But this song just makes me happy in the morning.

So there is my currently top three played tracks at the moment. What are yours? What should I be listening too?

The one in which I dump a guy for his taste in music…

FACT: I once stopped seeing a guy because I found out he’d bought a Shannon Noll CD. Yes I am a music snob. But seriously Shannon Noll?! There is questionable taste and then there is NO TASTE! He apparently had none.

My taste in music is quite wide, like my ass, and I like it that way(the music taste, not the ass circumference). The first gig I ever went to Slim Dusty (& I ended up on a stage with a teenage Keith Urban), the favourite person I ever worked for Suzi Quattro, favourite artist of all time (my version of god) Nick Cave, favourite child hood female role models Spice Girls. I still proudly love every one of these artists and their music, yes even the Spice Girls (back when girls were normal sized, and had personality plus).

But if I hate it, there is no coming back. Unfortunately for the aforementioned fellow, Shannon Noll was one of these people/artists. As are the following…

Kelly Clarkson

Miley Cyrus

I know I’m going to get killed (and called un-australian) for this one…

Kylie Minogue

Gabriella Cilmi

Justin Bieber

Short Stack

That’s my list, there are probably more that I could add, but these are the ones that really make me want to run my ears through a meat grinder. So tell me dear reader who’s music you cannot stand?
Would you ever break up with a dude due to his taste in music, and if so what “artist” would cause you to go so far?

Thankyou. Oh & P.S. If you happen to love any of these bands, I’m sorry we can no longer be friends.

R.I.P Lukey

As a child I begged my parents for a brother, pleaded for a brother. I was always ignored, placated by my mother, with the explanation of you have Luke he’s as good as a brother.
I remember arguing about who would get the armchair out the back of the shop to watch TV, and telling whoever would listen “I don’t want to sit next to him he annoys me.” But what I wouldn’t give to sit next to you again Lukey. To annoy you for one more day. The world is a little bit poorer without you.

Today it’s been three months since you left us, and it’s also the day on which you would have turned 21.
I will remember you how I loved you, as my little cousin, a brother of sorts. One of the lost boys who litter my childhood.
04/07/89-04/04/10

Sing-a-long to a different tune…

It’s great now I have weekends off again, I can do normal things, like play Video Hits, and get my Dylan Lewis fix (although I’ll always love him more for Recovery). Which was what I was doing this past weekend, I had Video Hits on in the backgroud as I was going about my morning routine, and like the dork I am, I was having a sing-a-long, and dancing around the house. No apologies for this behaviour, because we all do it, it’s just a matter of admitting it. A song came on  and I presumed I knew it and started singing along, until I went WTF?!?! Have they changed the lyrics.

Now here is the embarrassing part, the song I presumed I knew, and the song I believed they were playing, this one…

Yes thats right, Jon Bon Jovi’s – It’s My Life.

The song it was…

Boys Like Girls – Heart Heart Heartbreak

For real?! Have a listen and let me know what you think. Have they ripped off Jon or am I just losing my hearing with old age?!
